MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT: JEFF'S BRIEF

Jeffrey Landreth, PE, President

Happy New Year!

Best wishes to all as we begin this new year! Despite a tough economy there are some people who seem to be doing great. . . what is their secret? I think it is innovation. The ASHRAE SoCal Chapter has also been working hard to adapt and innovate. And as the first half my term as President has just passed, I am happy to report that our Chapter is on track with our goals for the year! Here are a few of the great things we have accomplished so far:

  • We have put a huge effort forward in developing our Young Engineers in ASHRAE. WE have had monthly Happy Hours and a Tour of the UCLA Central Plant.
  • We added a Fall Seminar this year. (Typically we only have a Spring Seminar).
  • We executed our first live webinar providing PDHs and LEED CMP Credits.
  • We have developed a great set of programs and speakers for the year! With three ASHRAE DLs.
  • We have moved to all electronic newsletters, roster and ballots saving costs.
  • We have cut our chapter expenses by nearly $15,000.
  • We have acquired a credit card machine to allow for onsite payments at all of our events.
  • We have achieved 30% of our annual goal for Research Promotion.

Thank you so much to the board, committee members, past presidents, volunteers and sponsors who have made all of this possible!
